The Everest Base Camp Trek (12 Days) begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, followed by a short scenic flight to Lukla (2,800m). From here, the trek starts with a gentle walk to Phakding (2,630m). The next day, the trail leads to the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar (3,450m), where trekkers spend an extra day for acclimatization and enjoy a short hike to Everest View Hotel. Continuing onward, the trail winds through forests and ridges to reach Tengboche (3,840m), home to the region’s most famous monastery. The journey then heads higher into alpine terrain, reaching Dingboche (4,200m), where another acclimatization day includes a rewarding hike to Nagarjun Hill (4,800m). From here, trekkers ascend to Lobuche (4,910m) via the Thukla Pass memorials, before pushing on to Gorak Shep (5,170m) and making the iconic hike to Everest Base Camp (5,364m).
The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most iconic journeys in the world, leading adventurers deep into the heart of the Khumbu region of Nepal. Over the course of 12 days, this trek takes you from the lively streets of Kathmandu to the dramatic landscapes of the Himalayas, with every step bringing you closer to the world’s highest peak — Mount Everest (8,848m).
The adventure begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region, followed by a gradual trek through charming Sherpa villages, lush forests, suspension bridges, and ancient monasteries. As you ascend, the trail opens up to sweeping views of legendary peaks such as Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest itself.
Acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche help you adjust to the altitude, while offering chances to hike to nearby viewpoints. The highlights include visiting the historic Everest Base Camp (5,364m), where climbers prepare for summit expeditions, and the climb to Kala Patthar (5,545m), the best vantage point for breathtaking sunrise views over Everest.
This trek is not only about mountains; it’s also a cultural journey into the Sherpa homeland. Along the way, you’ll experience warm hospitality in teahouses, visit monasteries like Tengboche, and learn about the unique Buddhist traditions of the Himalayas.
