Annapurna Round and Tilicho Lake trek

Welcome to Nepal! Upon landing at Kathmandu airport, our representative will greet you and take you to your hotel. You’ll have time to rest after your journey, or if you feel energetic, you can stroll around Thamel, the lively hub of Kathmandu with cafés, gear shops, and colorful markets. In the evening, you’ll get a briefing about your trek.

A long but scenic drive takes you out of the Kathmandu Valley and into the hills of central Nepal. You’ll pass rivers, rice terraces, and small settlements before reaching Dharapani, a village surrounded by pine forests and traditional stone houses. This marks the starting point of your trekking adventure.

The trail begins with a gradual climb through forests and villages. Along the way, you’ll cross suspension bridges and enjoy views of Manaslu and Annapurna II. By afternoon, you’ll reach Chame, the district headquarters of Manang, known for its hot springs and mountain views.

Today, the trail winds through forests and along the Marsyangdi River before opening up to wide views. You’ll pass rock walls and prayer wheels, finally reaching Upper Pisang, a village perched on a ridge. From here, the views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak are breathtaking, especially at sunset.

You have two route options today: the lower trail through pine forests or the higher trail via Ghyaru and Ngawal, which gives spectacular panoramic views. Both trails eventually lead to Manang, one of the biggest villages in the region. Surrounded by snowy peaks, Manang feels like a mountain amphitheater.

To prepare for higher altitude, you’ll spend an extra day in Manang. There are several side hikes to choose from: a walk up to Gangapurna Lake, a visit to the Ice Lake viewpoint, or a hike to a nearby ridge for views of the Annapurnas. The rest of the day can be spent exploring the village, where Tibetan-influenced culture is strong.

Leaving Manang, you head west on a smaller trail that leads toward Tilicho Base Camp. The path crosses landslide areas and rugged terrain, but the scenery is dramatic, with snow peaks rising above. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the simple lodges of Base Camp, ready for your adventure to the lake tomorrow.

An early morning climb takes you to the shores of Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. Surrounded by snowy ridges and Tilicho Peak, the turquoise water is a stunning sight. After soaking in the views, you’ll return to Base Camp, have a meal, and then continue trekking downhill to Shree Kharka, a small settlement with cozy lodges.

The trail gradually climbs through alpine meadows where you may spot yaks grazing. The landscapes become more barren, but the views of snowy peaks like Annapurna III are spectacular. You’ll arrive at Yak Kharka, a peaceful stopover at high altitude, perfect for acclimatizing before heading to higher passes.

Leaving Lo Manthang, the trail heads southeast toward Yara, a small and rarely visited village. The walk takes you through high desert terrain and rocky paths, offering solitude and wide views. Yara is known for its caves and simple lifestyle, far removed from modern development.

Today’s walk continues through Mustang’s barren yet beautiful landscapes. The trail can feel quiet and remote, with only the wind and prayer flags breaking the silence. You’ll reach Tangya, a traditional village surrounded by arid hills.

This is one of the toughest but most rewarding days. You’ll cross the high Pa Pass, which offers sweeping views of Mustang’s canyons and cliffs. The trail is long, around 10 hours, but the dramatic scenery keeps you inspired. Eventually, you’ll descend to Chhuksang, where you can rest.

A shorter but significant day as you cross La Pass and descend to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Pilgrims visit the Muktinath Temple and its 108 water spouts. The spiritual atmosphere here is unforgettable.

A gentle downhill trek leads you back to Jomsom, the windy valley town. After many days in remote areas, Jomsom feels lively with trekkers, locals, and traders.

Take a short flight or a jeep ride back to Pokhara. The rest of the day is free to relax by the lake, enjoy cafés, or explore the city.

After the long trek, you deserve a rest. Spend the day strolling around Phewa Lake, go boating, or visit the Peace Pagoda for panoramic views.

Travel back to Kathmandu. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with cultural dance, celebrating your adventure in Mustang.

A buffer day in case of flight delays or to simply relax, shop for souvenirs, or revisit a favorite spot in the city.

Transfer to the airport for your flight home, carrying with you incredible memories of the hidden kingdom of Mustang.
