Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek

19 Days

Trip Facts

Overview

The Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek is a 19-day journey that takes you close to Mount Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest mountain. Along the way, you will also explore the quiet and beautiful Tsum Valley, a hidden gem that only opened to trekkers in the 1990s. Unlike the busier trekking routes in Nepal, this region is peaceful and gives you a real sense of wilderness and culture.

Each day you will walk for about 6 to 7 hours through rice fields, forests, and traditional Gurung villages. In Tsum Valley, you will see a strong Tibetan influence with monasteries, prayer flags, mani walls, and chortens. You may even meet monks and nuns and visit the famous Milarepa’s Cave. The valley often feels mystical, with misty hills and views stretching toward the Tibetan border.

As the trek goes higher, you will cross rivers, waterfalls, and suspension bridges before facing the biggest challenge: Larkya La Pass (5,160m). This is the hardest but most rewarding part of the trek. From the top, you will see glaciers, frozen lakes, and incredible views of mountains like Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Annapurna II, and of course, Manaslu itself.

This trek is tougher than the popular Annapurna trails, but it offers much more solitude, untouched landscapes, and a deep cultural experience. If you are looking for an adventure that is both challenging and rewarding, the Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek will be the perfect choice.
